This years winter has been very mild for us but some days all you want to do is curl up on the bed – here are 4 of our ginger cats battling the Aveyron winter.
The great thing about the winter is that it does give me time to play – as you know I love riveting and here is my new bronze ring with a riveted stamped silver heart joining the two sides –
The texture is made using a very old hammer, it give an almost reticulated look to the surface. I then stamped the heart onto a piece of silver and made a couple of fine silver rivets and riveted the whole thing together – This ring is now on my website £19 or in just sterling silver £30 – just click on the photo.
Riveted Lampwork Bead Pendant
I ran a number of giveaways on my FaceBook page leading up to Christmas (I try and run a giveaway each month http://www.facebook.com/la.vidalerie.jewellery.making.holidays) and one morning had a wonderful surprise when I found that Lorna Johnson of https://www.etsy.com/shop/pinkbluesky had sent me a gift in reply – an assortment of her lovely lampwork beads – here is the first one I have had chance to make up
I wanted to make something a little different so I made some silver beadcaps and a fine silver rivet and riveted the bead onto a bronze bail – it makes a super simple pendant just strung onto a natural leather thong that will go with everything. If any other lampwork artists want to send me a bead they think would be suitable for a riveted pendant like this just let me know and I’ll feature their site.
